About Brett Nelson

Brett Nelson believes it is extremely important to provide direct answers to clients involved in the highly emotional areas of family law. By helping clients thoroughly understand their circumstances, Nelson keeps their expectations in perspective. His work philosophy places children’s best interests and clients’ financial stability as top priorities in resolving these legal issues.

A practicing attorney since 1993, Nelson is licensed in both Iowa and Illinois. At Drake University, Des Moines, Iowa, Nelson earned a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration degree, a Master of Business Administration degree, and his Juris Doctor degree. Before going into the private practice of law, Nelson served as a law clerk for the Seventh Judicial District of Scott County, Iowa. He is a member in good standing with the Scott County, Rock Island County, Iowa State, Illinois State and American bar associations. He is admitted to the U.S. Court of Appeals, Seventh Circuit and Federal Circuit; the U.S. Court of Federal Claims; the U.S. District Court, Northern and Southern Districts of Iowa; and the U.S. District Court, Central District of Illinois.
